About the Artist

Why Thinkism - The Thinkism Art Movement was born on September 12, 2001 to enrich the mind, and to feed the soul. Since art can be meaningful beyond words, beyond culture, and beyond language, it can be used to explore various social issues. The Thinkism art movement is the fused with other disciplines; different social issues, philosophical issues, political issues, environmental issues, psychological issues, religious issues, and other complex matters are explored in this new art movement.

Why Art
- His creativity surfaced early in life. He was one of the best art students in his high school. After a brief stint in fashion design, he completely shun arts and graduated from Industrial Engineering instead. In university, he actively help organize, as well as design posters, flyers, and publicity for various social events, and parties. Throughout his life, he has been driven to raise money for various social causes, such as cancer research, prevention of violence against women, fighting racism, fighting for freedom, protection of the environment...etc. After graduating from university, he started his own business, developing and marketing healthy beverages. His beverage label designs, and promotional music CDs brought him numerous international design awards. His creativity also allowed him to create several patent pending Internet, and technology inventions. He was thrusted back into pure fine arts due to several major events in his life: a) the terrorism of 911; b) the death of his father; c) the death of his God sister's whole family in a plane crash; and d) soft drink monopolies prevented him from expanding his beverage business; e) the stealing of his intellectual property inventions by major corporations, with more money, and power; f) his financial setback, and f) visiting Martin Luther King Jr.'s house, and exhibition in Atlanta. This made him think about making art as a vehicle to explore man's (woman's) relationship to the world, the world's relationship to man (woman), and man's (woman's) relationship to each other.

His Art -Currently, the issues being explored by David in his Thinkism art include: love, freedom, racism, gun control, the universe, the resilience of nature, freedom, liberty, the metamorphosis of people, computers in society, the Internet, war, television advertising on children, energy, dominance of multi-national corporations, globalization, money, the dot com corporations, animals facing extinction, terrorism, fashion in society, celebrities in society, the role of money in society, the fine line between advertising and false advertising, food in society, and sex in society.

Teachers - David says life is his biggest teacher. His engineering skills has taught him how to study different art techniques, and then apply them with ease. He is also a voracious reader of books; he reads books on science, business, philosophy, psychology, religion, fashion, arts, technology, music, geography, travel, computers, fiction, strategy, and anything else he can get my hands on.

Materials - He uses a broad spectrum of media: air, fragrances, acrylics, sounds, oils, food, watercolor, spray paint, food essences, collage, clay, plaster, metals, plastics, paper, cloth, lights, glass, and other materials. I experiment with all of them. He uses a combination of these materials to stimulate the viewer's sense of sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, and intuition. There is no limit to the type of medium he uses.

Shows, Galleries and Connections - He just started exhibiting his Thinkism Art online, and created this website as a common ground to fuel this new art movement. He is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Philosophy - Art can be a catalyst for positive social change. Having found his calling, he wants to use art to make people think about social issues, and to empower people to make the world a better place. Since art is a universal language, it can be understood by everyone. Art is a form of self expression, that can touch a person's mind, body, and spirit. So set yourself free.

Goals - As a professional painter, and founder of the Thinkism Art Movement,  he wants to change the way people think about art, and artists. He also wants to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives.
